The South Loop is a multifaceted hub of cultural attractions, bringing together the best of what Chicago has to offer. Getting in and aroundThis neighborhood is located just south of The Loop, making it a great option for downtown professionals who want easy access to public transportation. The Red, Orange, Green and Blue L lines all run through the area, providing direct connections to other parts of the city.
Living in South LoopChicago Museum Campus. Spanning 57 acres and encompassing five of Chicago’s biggest cultural attractions is the Museum Campus, located just in front of Lake Michigan. The sprawling facility is home to America’s first planetarium, the Adler Planetarium; the Field Museum of Natural History, one of the largest museums of its kind; and Shedd Aquarium, which holds more than 32,000 different animals.
Iconic blues clubs. From the iconic blues club Buddy Guy’s Legends to the 170-seater Jazz Showcase, there’s nowhere better to experience the best of Chicago’s live music than South Loop.
An underrated food scene. The South Loop offers an underrated food scene consisting of tried-and-true Chicagoan favorites as well as newer establishments. There’s Roots Handmade Pizza, a well-loved neighborhood pizzeria with several branches across the city; Cafecito, whose Cuban sandwiches are a crowd favorite; the cutest café with as fun outdoor space to hand out in during the Summer, Spoke & Bird; Victory Tap which specializes in classic Chicago Italian dishes along with prime meat and seafood; The Chicago Firehouse Restaurant which at one time was a real firehouse, now a stylish restaurant that services traditional American food & drinks; and Flo & Santos, a warm large exposed brick and red-boothed pub and eatery, with a beautiful spacious outside beer garden.
The South Loop offers a variety of housing options, from apartments to condos and townhomes to single-family houses. Many of these condos and lofts were once old warehouses and factories, renovated to meet the demand for housing. Many condos have amenities such as fitness centers and rooftop decks.
